Reports by the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) indicate that an estimated 31 million girls of primary school age and 32 million girls of lower secondary school age were out of school in 2013. Sub-Saharan Africa has the lowest proportion of countries with gender parity (the ratio of girls' gross enrollment as a proportion of boys’ gross enrollment ratio) (UNICEF, 2013).
As a young group of invested Africans, our desire is to create the opportunities for change. Through our pilot project, the “One-Change” initiative, we hope to add to the on-going debate on girls’ education and help rural communities build capacity to support young girls to complete basic education
